My Story

As a third-generation Mesa resident deeply rooted in my community, I have dedicated my life to serving and advocating for the welfare of its residents. Since marrying Lanie in 1991, we have raised our five children in the same area where I grew up, fostering a strong commitment to the betterment of our surroundings.

My overarching goal is to ensure that SRP customers remain the focal point of our endeavors, safeguarding their interests above all else while sidestepping the pitfalls encountered by other power and water companies. This commitment extends to guaranteeing that SRP customers receive power and water services that are not only reliable and affordable but also environmentally sustainable. My vision includes responsibly integrating renewable resources into our system, with the ultimate aim of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

My extensive experience equips me with the skills and insights necessary to navigate the complexities of utility governance. Serving eight years on both the SRP Board of Governors and the SRP Council has provided me with invaluable insights into the intricacies of utility management. Additionally, my academic background, including a Bachelor of Science and a Masters in Organization Management, bolsters my ability to lead effectively in this capacity.

Professionally, I have demonstrated my entrepreneurial acumen through successfully starting, owning, and operating an import flooring company for over two decades. During this time, I expanded operations to encompass distribution in Utah, solidifying relationships with over 200 stores and builders in both Arizona and Utah. Prior to this, I served as the general manager of Yellow Cab, Checker Cab, Courier Cab, and Arnett Transportation, overseeing a large fleet and personnel base, ensuring efficient operations round the clock.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to community service. I have dedicated over 25 years to the Boy Scouts of America, serving in various leadership roles, including Scout Master, Varsity Coach, Venture Leader, and Assistant District Commissioner. Additionally, I have volunteered for 12 years with Arizona Brain Food, providing essential food supplies to schoolchildren in need over the weekends.

With a proven track record of leadership, a strong commitment to community service, and a clear vision for the future of SRP, I am eager to continue serving and advocating for the best interests of our community.
